Please read before requesting a video

With the advent of HTML5 responsive websites, adding a video is no longer as simple as adding an image, so cannot be completed using the editor. Depending on the video type there are considerations for cookie use and format (for different device types). MP4 videos require an initial 'Poster' image, as well as being hosted.

Video types allowed:

Embedded video format (from a streaming service such as Vimeo or YouTube)

MP4 file upload: Added as a link (Max 100 MB per submission)

MP4 file upload: Added as a player with Poster image (Max 100MB per submission)

Important note - Re: Licensing:  As with images, please ensure you have permission, or are licensed, to use the video on your website.

Important note - Re: Accessibility:  New accessibility regulations came into force on 23rd September 2018. Unfortunately videos don’t come off lightly and there are quite a few requirements to consider, such as sub-titles and audio description. If adding your video as a link to YouTube, for instance, it is important to add 'nocookie' code in the link URL to prevent YouTube from using cookies (there is similar code for Vimeo) - we would need to do this for you! This W3C page discusses the requirements for adding your own videos and this gov page just points out the requirement for videos saying only videos published before 23 September 2020 (2 years after the regulations came into force) might be exempt. The other alternative is to add a ‘Disproportionate Burden’ statement to your website accessibility policy of course. Please contact us if you require any advice.
